Delicious is a delightful read in beautiful prose of a glimpse into the daily home life or work or holiday adventure of several interesting people along with that of the author, Australian journalist, Kate Legge. The chapters are technically essays, but they do not seem separate as they are connected, written in first person by Legge at the centre of each one of them, spanning from the 80s to 2026.
The stories centre around the social and political ambience of the times, mostly in Melbourne, but also whilst Legge lived abroad in the US and travelled through Asia. Each chapter ends in a recipe, that I tried and of which, am still keen to try a few more. Through these recipes, family, friendship, experiences and adventures connect and become tangible to the reader.
