Schools Project

The current focus of the Local Studies Collection is on schools, those in town and those that popped up around the district to cater for the children of Group Settlers.

We are in the process of digitising and cataloguing our large collection of class photos, uploading them to the Local Studies Gallery  and Flickr as we go.

We also have information about each of the schools, including location, years active, family names associated with the school, teachers, and some personal anecdotes.

This project will give researchers greater access to a variety of sources of information, handy for family history researchers and those interested in schooling in the area.

If you have any old class photos you’d like to contribute, we can scan the photos and return the originals to you, usually while you wait!

And if you are able to add details to photos on our gallery that are missing, particularly student names, we’d be most grateful.

Contact the Busselton Library for more information.

Streetscape Project 2015

This year we are taking to the streets to capture photos of our ever changing streetscapes. The photograph locations will be digitally mapped and uploaded to the library website upon completion, and the whole project will be repeated every 5 years to visually document the changes occurring in our community.

If you have a photo of your streetscape and would like to contribute to the project, please contact us.

Photograph digitisation

Our ever growing collection of photographs is currently being catalogued and digitised in preparation for upload to our webpage.

This will be a gradual process, so check our Local Studies Gallery regularly to see what’s new.

Rates and minutes book digitisation

Our fantastic group of volunteers are digitising our large collection of rate and minute books dating back to the 1890s.

These items are fragile and cumbersome, so digitisation will enable better access to the information they contain without causing further physical deterioration.
