Stoner

This engaging novel about the lives and loves of William Stoner, an English lecturer at an American Midwestern university, is touching and thought provoking.

First published in 1965, Stoner made little impact and was soon out of print. Republished by Vintage in 2003, it gradually gained in popularity, especially in Europe, and is now a bestseller.

For those readers who enjoy the style of John Banville, this is a “must” read.
