Subtitled “One Man’s Search for Justice,” this autobiographical account of a West Australian man who was subjected to sexual abuse by a priest during his childhood. There was, therefore, a great familiarity of place in this memoir. The accused cleric had actually been convicted by the time the author gathered enough courage to put in a claim to the police and the church, but he needed to seek justice for the crime that had blighted his life.
This is a powerful memoir, beautifully written, and documented, and once more portrays the secret cover ups of a global institution out of its depths with the enormity of the disclosures.
Not for the faint hearted.
