This book represents an amazing set of stories about the emerging USA in the 19th Century in the aftermath of the Civil War. There are stories of conflicts between races, ambitions, and loyalties, especially brother and sister, Coleman and June. The love between brother and sister is the core of the story. Be prepared for a long and multi-layered read.
