The back cover gives a good description of the content. The story takes place mainly in Singapore. The main themes are family and the stresses of the time and the effects these stresses have on the different family members with the focal point being on the experiences of being an only daughter.
A really interesting read for me as I visited Singapore in 1960 and spent a few years there in the 1980’s. There were many changes in Singapore even in that 20-year time period.
