Author Geoff Parkes was born and raised in rural New Zealand, but now lives in Melbourne. For the last 12 years he has written a weekly opinion column for The Roar, Australia’s leading online sports website. This is his debut crime novel.
This book was published in 2025 and is set in a small sheep shearing community in New Zealand in the early 1980s. Ryan has a summer romance with a backpacker, Sanna, from Finland who is working with the shearing gang. One day, she mysteriously disappears. A year later, her sister Emelia turns up from Finland to search for answers and turns to Ryan for help. As they search for the truth dark secrets begin to surface.
The dual-timeline offers plenty of possible suspects and will keep you guessing right to the end.
