What is One Library?

The One Library network is the first of its kind in Western Australia, connecting and combining the resources of 25 Libraries across the South West region.

If you’ve always wanted a wider choice of resources from your local library, you’ll find lots to love about the One Library network.

You can use your current Library card to borrow and return items at any of the participating Libraries.

As a One Library member you will have access to a wider range of resources. You can browse the catalogue of your local library and request items from any participating One Library. When your requested items become available, they will be delivered to your preferred Library.

With access to multiple Libraries, the materials of all these libraries become available to you. With over half a million items to select from you will have a wider choice of books, DVDs, magazines and more, you will find lots to love about One Library.

13 local governments agreed to implement a shared ‘One Card’ Library Management System (LMS). The one card system is the first of its kind in WA. The local governments include: Shire of Dardanup, City of Bunbury, City of Busselton, Shire of Capel, Shire of Harvey, Shire of Waroona, Shire of Boyup Brook, Shire of Manjimup, Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes, Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup, Shire of Nannup, Shire of Boddington, and the Shire of Collie.

All One Libraries are committed to giving their customers the best service possible. Some Libraries may offer a service that will complement the core library service meeting the particular needs of their local community. Check with the relevant library to find out what’s available to you.

No. Although participating Libraries may have similar policies, there may be a variation at some libraries.

Collectively from the One Library service you can borrow up to 30 items with a standard membership. There will be local limits on some items at some libraries, please ask at your local library.

No. As a member of a One library, you can use your existing library card.

If you have multiple library cards from different libraries, you will be asked which card will be your primary membership for borrowing. You only need one card for borrowing, and the others can be made inactive. Library staff will be happy to discuss this in detail with you.

Your privacy will continue to be protected. Staff at any given One Library service will only access your membership record if you choose to borrow or use your membership at that library. Your record will only be accessed in order to manage your transactions, and will not be made available to any third party without your consent. At all times, One Library operates in accordance with State and Commonwealth Government privacy regulations.
