The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue,
by V.E. Schwab

Cover of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, by V.E. Schwab.

In 1714 France, Addie LaRue prays to someone she should not have and makes a bargain. She wants to life and wants to be free. She no longer ages and cannot die, but everyone forgets her the moment they are no longer looking at her and she can leave no mark on the world. Most of the book covers her experiences over the centuries, but a significant proportion is set in New York 2014, where things suddenly change in her life.

I found this to be a fascinating premise, and I appreciated the brief historical references, such as the French Revolution. The relationships between the major characters and how they develop were interesting, especially the slow development of the relationship between Addie and the god who granted her wish. I found the latter chapters to be quite emotional, as I had become quite invested in the characters by this point.
