Book Club FAQs
Any local book club may register for a book club membership. We require two members of the club to come to the library and provide their details in creating a book club membership. For more details on how to join, visit our Membership page.
Book club sets are collected from the library as a complete set. A representative from the book club will need to come to Busselton or Dunsborough Library and borrow the set with your book club membership. Once you have the set, you can distribute the books among your members.
Book club sets must be returned to the library as a complete set. You will need to collect them from all of your members. Bring the set to a library staff member, who will verify that all items are present. If they are, the staff member will accept the set and remove it from your card.
Book club sets are available on shelf at Busselton Library, near the Large Print section. Dunsborough-based clubs can request sets to be sent to Dunsborough Library for collection there. Book club sets may also be requested from other libraries in the One Library network, but they will take longer to arrive. To learn more about the network, visit our One Library page.
If the set you are after is not currently available — on loan with another club — you may request a hold on the item. We cannot guarantee when the set will be available for collection, however, so you may need to plan around this.
If you placed a hold on a book club set, you have two weeks to collect it from the day staff put it aside for you.
Once you loan a book club set, you have it for six weeks from the day you borrowed it.
Book clubs may have up to two sets on loan at once, so you can have one member borrow your next title before another has returned your previous one.
You may also have up to two sets on hold at once. This can be used to plan your future reads.
No, unfortunately we cannot guarantee a reservation to be available on a specific date. Once a set is returned to us and is reserved for your book club, you have two weeks to collect it. We cannot guarantee what day the previous book club will return the set, and if you are not the next in the queue then you may need to wait for multiple other book clubs to read this title. Furthermore, if the set is coming from another library, we cannot guarantee when it will arrive to us.
Digital Book Clubs
