Days of Innocence and Wonder, by Lucy Treloar

Cover of Days of Innocence and Wonder, by Lucy Treloar.

A fascinating story of childhood trauma and fear and loss by a young Australian writer.

Narrated by an unknown voice, the theme of the novel is based on the abduction of Till’s childhood friend and her guilt that she could have prevented it. All her life she has known that the perpetrator of this crime will hunt her down, and at 23, she is now fleeing once again to find herself in the fictional town of Wirowie where she buys and renovates an old railway station and begins to find community; but her past has a habit of catching up with her, leading to a dramatic conclusion.

Beautifully written Australian Gothic Novel, descriptive and atmospheric.
